Week one in the NFL is officially in the books. Some teams performed up to expectations, some teams performed better than expected, and well some teams just flat out crapped the bed. Here at What the Sports, we like to review things in a different way. Thus the new installment of GIF roundups. Here’s week one’s review.
Kansas City vs. New England: Chiefs won 42-27
Tom Brady when he sees his defense give up another big play to Kareem Hunt.
The Chiefs may have found something special in third round pick Kareem Hunt. Hunt had 246 total yards on 22 touches with three touchdowns in his debut.
Baltimore vs. Cincinnati: Ravens won 20-0
Andy Dalton looked worse on Sunday than Brock Osweiler did as Texan last season. Dalton turned the ball over five times.
The defense forced five turnovers and pitched a shutout. Enough said.
New York Jets vs. Buffalo: Bills won 21-12
The Jets have the worst roster in football, so fan should be stoked they didn’t score the least amount point this week (they scored 12 more than the Bengals).
LeSean McCoy and Tyrod Taylor both played well, but it was against the Jets
Atlanta vs. Chicago: Falcons won 23-17
The Bears performance on Sunday can be summed up as not finishing. They had the chance to take the lead late in the game. “Not finishing” has defined Chicago’s last few seasons.
Matt Ryan had a pretty good day throwing the ball but could never really put any distance between the Falcons and Bears. I imagine this was his look as the defense stopped the Bears with less than a minute left to close out the game.
Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland: Steelers won 21-18
Cleveland wants to prove that they will compete with the other teams in the AFC North sooner rather than later. DeShone Kizer is definitely saying to Big Ben that the Browns are coming for them.
Antonio Brown is a big reason the Steelers won this football game. Even though he didn’t catch a touchdown, Brown still had 11 catches for 182 yards.
Arizona vs. Detroit: Lions won 35-23
Live look at Carson Palmer today after throwing three interceptions against the Lions.
Matthew Stafford proved the haters wrong after signing the biggest contract in NFL history. Stafford threw four touchdown passes.
Jacksonville vs. Houston: Jaguars won 29-7
The Texans lost this game, but they were able to distract the city of Houston from all of the peril of Hurricane Harvey. The atmosphere was electric when J.J. Watt ran out of the tunnel with the Texas Flag.
Blake Bortles didn’t screw up this weekend against the Texans. The Jags defense is the reason they won, holding the Texans to just 203 total yards. The worst thing Bortles did was slap Allen Robinson’s injured knee.
Oakland vs. Tennessee: Raiders won 26-16
Marcus Mariota looked pretty good in his first regular season action since breaking his leg on Christmas Eve last season. He rushed for a TD but couldn’t lead the Titans to a victory.
Mariota wasn’t the only quarterback who broke his leg on Christmas Eve last year, Derek Carr also fell victim to the injury. Carr had a great day passing for two TDs in his first meaningful game back from injury.
Philadelphia vs. Washington: Eagles won 30-17
Kirk Cousins and the Skins struggled this week turning the football over four times.
Carson Wentz is becoming a stud in the NFL, throwing for two touchdowns and outplaying Kirk Cousins kicks his season off the right way.
Indianapolis vs. Los Angeles Rams: Rams won 46-9
Live look at Colts fans as they await Andrew Luck’s return. He is this team’s savior.
The Rams defense DOMINATED the Colts. They scored two pick sixes and caused a safety.
Seattle vs. Green Bay: Packers won 17-9
The look you give when you’re top tier defense loses a defensive game. Seahawks have to be frustrated with their week one performance.
This gunslinger did enough to help the Packers to a victory in a surprisingly defensive affair.
Carolina vs. San Francisco: Panther won 23-3
Complete snoozefest. They are just waiting for the draft, hoping they do worse than the Jets so they can get the “best” quarterback prospect.
Cam Newton when he saw the 49ers were the first game on the schedule after a rough season last year.
New York Giants vs. Dallas: Cowboys won 19-3
Eli Manning is still trying to figure out why he couldn’t complete a pass to save his life on Sunday night.
Ezekiel Elliott all night.
New Orleans vs. Minnesota: Vikings won 29-19
Adrian Peterson wondering why he ever signed with New Orleans.
Stefon Diggs went off on Monday vs. the Saints. Dude had seven grabs for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver: Broncos won 24-21
“What do I have to do to win the game?” Philip Rivers, probably.
